We are five school students working to raise the funds to fulfill our dream of going to Europe with the 'West of the Divide Choir' on a pilgrimage to the cradle of Western Civilisation's musical heritage, visiting such amazing places as Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic where we will be taking part in workshops, performances, exchanges and masterclasses. This website and blog will take you on our journey over the next year where we will be performing, working, acting and doing anything we have to do to meet our fundraising goals.
Meet the Team
Hi my name is Nina and I am a student from Gloucester High School in the Upper Hunter. Music is a big part of my life and I have loved singing since I was very young. I grew up in Sydney and joined Sydney Children’s Choir at the age of 6. That was good while I lived in Sydney but when I moved to Gloucester, it was too far to travel for rehearsals each week. This led me to audition for Gondwana National Choir. Gondwana meets at least once a year in Sydney; for 2 weeks, children aged 10 – 25 years come together, from all over Australia, to sing. In addition to singing, I play the piano and have just started learning the cello. I’ve been playing the piano for nearly 10 years, and am now in my 6th AMEB grade.
I moved to Gloucester in year 3 of primary school. I went to St. Joseph’s and now attend Gloucester High School. Since being at Gloucester High, I have participated in 2 musicals – Hairspray and Seussical. Both have been amazing experiences, just like the coming Europe trip will be!

Hi, my name is Grace.
I am 13 years old and have always been involved in
music in one way or another. From 3 until 12 years old, I studied dance and
performed at eistedfodds and concerts. During primary school, I began
singing with the school choir. When I was 12 I decided to take singing more
seriously, began taking singing lessons, and have since been singing in
choir, group and solo performances in and around Gloucester. I also sing in
our Year 8 rock band which is lots of fun too. This year I performed in my
first high school musical as Sour Kangaroo in Seussical. I also auditioned
and have been chosen to perform as a vocalist at the CAPERS Regional
Spectacular in Tamworth in November. I love music, singing and performing, and know it will be a big part of my life during high school and beyond. I am so excited about the opportunity to
travel and perform music in Europe next year. I will work hard and make the
most of this amazing experience.
Whilst Grace is not seeking to benefit from fundraising monies, she will be performing at events as part of the Gloucester Sings Europe, and help support her fellow students in achieving their goal.
My name is Mauatua. Music is a huge part of my life. I lived in Tahiti and Norfolk Island before coming to Gloucester Public School where I have been involved in singing
and performing for the past 4 years. With the school I have performed at several Eisteddfods (which we always win!) and this year will be our second year performing at the Sydney School Spectacular. Such an amazing experience. I have joined the Gloucester High School Choir (I'll be in high school next year) and will be singing in the choir at the CAPERS Regional Spectacular in Tamworth in November. I am so looking forward to travelling to Europe next year and learning as much as I can about music. It's a fantastic opportunity, and I am willing to work hard to get there!
My name is Hanu. I grew up in Tahiti and Norfolk Island before coming to Gloucester. Music means so much to me. I have been performing with the Gloucester High School Choir at local events for a couple of years now. I have performed with the State Choir in the past and this year I played one of the leading roles in our high school production of Seussical. I will be a Featured Artist at the upcoming CAPERS Regional Spectacular in Tamworth in November, and will be performing at the Opera House with the State Choir in October. I am really excited about this amazing opportunity to travel to Europe next year, to enhance my understanding of music and vocal performance. I am looking forward to fundraising to get there and work with our community.
My name is Liam. I grew up in Inverell, where I had a very high interest in dance. I then moved to Gloucester in 2008. I broke my arm and dancing was on the back burner for 4 weeks, after going back to dance I then broke my toe, while resting I sang to keep myself occupied. I soon quit dancing to start singing. I started singing lessons in Year 4. I was apart of the Gloucester Primary School Choir until Year 6. When high school came around, I auditioned for both school musicals - Hairspray and Seussical and got a lead roll in both. Ive been apart of many Australia and Anzac Day ceremonies. Singing is a big part of my life and has given me so many opportunities. Europe will be an amazing trip and I'm very excited for it!
